Modernized Economy

DSC_0905The modern global economy means we need to develop smart plans to make Lehigh County competitive. Home to several unions, places of higher education, and a large working population, Lehigh County is an ideal location for new and innovative economic solutions.

A modern economy also means a higher cost of living. People in Lehigh County have felt the rise in cost of living while sometimes seeing their income stagnate. Once elected, I will fight for higher, family sustaining wages, up to and including making County contracts include a fifteen-dollar an hour clause.

Lehigh County must also invest in quality workmanship in all of our projects, I would support a Responsible Contractor Ordinance, like we’ve seen in other counties across Pennsylvania. Such an ordinance would reward contractors who protect workers and our environment, while not spending our tax dollars paying contractors with multiple wage, OSHA, and environmental violations.

We also must invest in the education of our students, working with the state, school districts, and educators to make sure our children get the best education they can receive and are prepared for their future. Investing in not only academics, but skilled trade jobs and vocations would allow our students to prepare for their future.

A focus on the social services means ensuring that Commissioners engage in good-faith negotiations when it comes time to negotiate county contracts. I am proud to stand by our county workers and proud to have been endorsed by SEIU Local 668. 58594736_344787089502181_8011756759016275968_n
